New report outlines the benefits of RSV immunisation for infants and health systems

23 October 2024

The Health Policy Partnership (HPP) has published a new policy report, in collaboration with a panel of global experts, outlining key priorities for countries to implement effective RSV immunisation programmes for infants.

Protecting Infants from RSV through Effective Immunisation Strategies highlights four priority areas to help policy- and decision-makers implement immunisation strategies to protect infants from serious RSV-related illness.

The report builds on our complementary implementation framework, and includes insights from successful infant immunisation programmes in France, Spain and the US.

Although RSV typically causes mild cold- or flu-like symptoms, it can sometimes lead to serious respiratory illness. The virus is a leading cause of hospitalisation among children in their first year of life.
